New Blog for Moms That Will Pay for Kids College Expenses

I’ve started a new blog for single moms who are looking for ways to earn enough money to send their kids to college, without having to remortgage the house, take a 20 year loan, get extra jobs or work another 15 years to pay for it.

It is called Mom Pays For College.

I worked my way through two college degrees and it was a lot of work.  Luckily for me my employers paid most of the tuition and I came away with two engineering degrees and no debt.  However, I did this while working full time and the Master’s degree was while I had a small child too.  Talk about driven.

I used to think that this would be great for my kids, working their way through school, but I have changed my mind. I think that it would actually be OK if I paid for most of their college costs. After all, they are becomming so very expensive in the US that it seems like a huge burden to place on some kid (the student loan debt) if there is another way.

Great Software for Adding Backlinks; Instant Directory Profits

Hey folks, I’ve discovered a very useful program for creating backlinks. I’ve recently been reading about how quality backlinks are used to obtain great search engine positioning, then this super easy to use program, Instant Directory Profits, comes along.

Calvin and Jonathan, the IM Buzz creators, make the backlink process and directory listing so simple with their software. They include over 1,500 web directories in the software and will be updating them monthly. This is great because now I don’t have to go searching for all of them and you don’t either!  Last night I purchased, downloaded and fired up Instant Directory Profits and started posting my FitHealthySelf.com website to several different directories. After using the software for about 5 minutes I was able to get a good process going and create a nice group of links to my site.  It’s easy to place your link in the relevant area of the directory for best results.  I’m going to do this with all my sites.  Here’s a tip for anyone who gets this software. The free sites would like you to provide a backlink to their site.  As you go through the list make a web page that includes all the reciprocal backlinks. When you add your other sites to the free directories, just post the same backlink page information to each of your websites. Another thing that is very useful about the software is that you can edit fields and put in notes about a particular site, add new sites or delete ones that aren’t useful to you.  I’ve added some pricing information on the sites that aren’t free, so when I load links to my other websites I know exactly which ones I want to target.This is a useful program.  I recommend it for anyone who wants to increase traffic to their site by increasing the amount of quality backlinks.  Here it is again Instant Directory Profits. The Trailer — Water Born

Here’s the trailer for a film I may make.  The project is called Water Born and it’s about a a girl that ingests poisoned water because her local water system was poisoned by a very confused individual. Just who this mal-content is and how he relates to the girl is a terrifying surprise. I can’t wait to make it.!  This trailer is in HD (high definition). So I’ve chosen to load it to Vimeo.  Vimeo is a site that hosts HD videos and they don’t compress your video so much that it looks like a bunch of square pixels like youtube does. Are You Getting Your Daily Exercise?

Did you know that the American Heart Association recommends that a person exercise 5 days per week at a moderate level for 30 to 45 minutes each time.  That’s something like a brisk walk.  If you are short on time you can take a more intense workout for 20 minutes 3 times per week. Need help with a routine that meets those needs?

Your Life is a Short, Precious Gift. How Well Are You Taking Care of Yourself?

How well do you take care of yourself on a daily basis?  Are you getting enough sleep? Do you smoke? Do you get some exercise on a regular basis?  Are you under stress? Do you over consume alcohol or drugs?  It’s actually true that if you don’t take care of yourself you life will be shorter than possible.  In addition, your quality of life will go down significantly.

I just don’t understand why people don’t pay attention to themselves better. My younger brother is in the hospital today and it does not surprise me one bit.  He’s led the perfect example of how to treat yourself poorly.  I guess he’s had a good example because his dad, mine too, did about the same thing and died when he was 50.

I know genetics play a part in people’s longevity, but knowing that you’d probably want to work even harder to stay fit and healthy. 

So for everyone who is just thinking they should probably do a bit more for their own health, today is the day to start. Start slowly. Go for a walk around the block if that is what you can manage. do it every day for a week. Pretty soon, you’ll be craving your walk and probably want to bump it up to two blocks, then two miles.  I know you can do it and it is going to feel so good. 

Do any activity that gets your heart beating faster than normal for at least 20 minutes a day and you will begin to reduce stress, lose weight, ward off diseases and generally feel a lot better. Video PSA Fluorescent Light Bulbs Save Money

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve completed the Public Service Announcement for the fluorescent light bulbs and you can watch it by clicking this link Lana Hawkins’ PSA on Compact Fluorescent light bulbs.  The file is coming from youtube.com, FYI.  Compact fluorescent light bulbs are a great energy saver.  They burn much cooler than an incandescent bulb.  Make sure if you use these to recycle them because they contain mercury, nasty stuff for the landfill.
